Throughout your daily practice, all sorts of external forces will arise. Sounds, thoughts, and discomfort are common, but do not allow them to distract you. Recognize every sensation from the comfort of your ocean-side seat; the waves of your mind coming and going as they please.
Your ultimate goal is to remain within the present, taking-in everything while staying connected to your breathing and body. Use each breath to clean your cluttered mind and take a step towards stability, free from thoughts of the past or future. Once you find yourself within the present, you will no longer be a slave to negative and distracting thoughts that enter your mind.
